Geo-nonwovens WIG

Geo-nonwovens WIG

WIG are geo-nonwovens made of polypropylene fibres. These are strong and resistant to damage nonwovens.

Geo-nonwovens WIG are available by weight, from 100 to 800 g/m².

Main functions of geo-nonwovens WIG:

STRENGTHENING

This function is based on a takeover of a part of load that originates in the area above the geo-nonwovens. The natural ground base or embankment base of the facilities are covered with the strengthening part.

PROTECTIVE

Protective geo-nonwoven is the layer which replaces the effect of aggressive substances, entirely or in the part that safeguards the protected area. The mechanical influences include:

  • wind and water
  • water wave
  • rock spalls
  • perforation

SEPARATING

The aim is to prevent the mixing of two substances, especially: of the rubber base with the aggregate, embankment substructure. The basic purpose of separating geo-nonwovens is not to reduce the load capacity of the embankment material layer in normal use.

DRAINAGE

The aim of this function is to enable water to flow and at the same time to prevent silting up of the drainage system by solid particles of the ground.

ISOLATING

In connection with impervious composite, the function of geo-nonwovens as the insulating material is connected with blocking liquid medium gravitation flow perpendicularly to the surface of the geo-nonwoven. The typical feature is that water occurs only on one side.

The most known applications are:

  • separation of rubbish from the ground surface to prevent groundwater contamination with the products coming from reactions taking place at municipal and industrial waste dumps.
  • separation of the ground surface from water environment in artificial reservoirs.
  • separation of engineering construction structures from groundwater.
